Sculptra™ corrects the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people with human immunodeficiency virus. Injected in small amounts using a very fine needle, it provides a gradual increase in skin thickness, which creates a more natural facial appearance. Visible results appear within the first few treatment sessions; the amount of treatments required varies with the severity of fat loss.
Sculptra™ is safe and biodegradable poly-L-lactic acid that is widely used in dissolvable stitches and various implants. Immediately following treatment you may experience tenderness, bruising or swelling at the site of injection.
Results last up to 2 years. Most people are comfortable enough to resume normal activities after treatment.
