Improving Tone & Texture

For over a century, chemical peels have been used to improve the tone and texture of the skin. These peels tighten skin, reduce wrinkling, improve and smooth skin texture, and restore a more youthful appearance by removing the outer layers of skin damaged by the sun, acne, rosacea, or other conditions. There are a variety of chemical peels each having different properties, which may be applied to both face and body.

At the Center for Skin Wellness, our medical aestheticians will administer a peel designed specifically for your skin type. When treated with a chemical peel, most patients feel a warm and/or tingling sensation that lasts for 10 minutes or less and the typical reaction is similar to sunburn: redness followed by possible scaling and flaking of dead skin cells for a few days.

Deeper peels may flake for a longer duration. Following the procedure, you must avoid direct sunlight and apply full-spectrum sunscreen every day for as long as prescribed to protect your new, sensitive skin.  Photodynamic Therapy is another option for improving the skin’s tone and texture.  It has been effective in reducing fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, redness, and pore size.

Your aesthetician will also prescribe products to help your skin renew and rejuvenate quickly, and retain its youthful appearance.
